Elks National Foundation Committee Purpose: To promote the Elks National Foundation and to encourage all Elks and spouses to become participating members of ENF.
When you give to the Elks National Foundation, you’re doing more than funding the Elks National Drug Awareness and “Hoop Shoot” programs. You’re doing more than supporting the Community Investments Program and providing Emergency Educational Grants to the children of deceased or totally disabled Elks. You’re doing more than maintaining the Elks Veterans Memorial.
You’re doing all that, and you’re supporting Elkdom in your state.
During the 2014-15 Lodge year, the Elks of Colorado donated $181,184.08 to the Elks National Foundation. This year, the Foundation will give back the following:
- A State Charities Grant of $136,320, a special projects grant of $95,420, and a bonus grant of $30,860. These grants will go toward Laradon, the Colorado Major Project as well as other philanthropic projects. Portions of these grants will also support your state’s Drug Awareness Program, Hoop Shoot, Soccer Shoot and educational programs.
- A total of $60,000 in “Most Valuable Student” scholarships to 15 high school seniors from Colorado (Click here to check out Colorado MVS recipients). In addition, we will award up to 7 Legacy scholarships — a total of $28,000, to children and grandchildren of Elks who have been members of a Colorado Elks Lodge for at least two years (Click here to check out Colorado Legacy recipients).
- A total of $31,500 to Veterans Service volunteers through the Elks Veterans Service Commission. These funds will help them provide aid and comfort to hospitalized veterans.
That’s a Grand Total of $382,100, which represents a ratio of 2.109 for every dollar the Foundation received from Colorado in that year. And that doesn’t even include the money Lodges in your state will get back through our Community Investments Program. For the 2014-15 fiscal year, for example, we awarded a total of $156,175 to 45 Colorado Lodges.
Since inception in 1928 through March 31, 2015, the Foundation has granted a total of $8,321,657.12 to Colorado, compared with your state’s total donations of $6,738,761.66. That’s a ratio of 1.235 for every dollar the Foundation has received from your state.
